Yo Yo Man - 2002

This rag tag doll was a thrift store find, many years ago. His crazed features give him character surpassing all the Barbee dolls in history! He is made of "yoyos" of fabric probably from the 30s or 40s, a traditional homemade doll. It took many painstaking hours to manufacture the round fabric yo-yos, cutting, sewing, gathering the circles and stringing them, stuffing and emroidering his slightly diabolical face. It reminds me of all the countless seamstresses and mothers of past generations who loved their children and made them toys to play with.
